Welcome to Avoca Hockey Club! Whether you’re a returning member or thinking about joining us for the first time, this page will guide you through the membership process for the 2025/26 season. Please read the information carefully, as the process differs for existing members and new members.
Existing Members
If you were a member last season, renewal is straightforward:
Renew by 31st August to avoid a late fee.
Memberships must be renewed by 30th September at the latest. After this date, you will not be permitted to attend training or play in matches until your membership is complete.
A late registration fee of €50 applies after 31st August.
The late fee does not apply to members who are already paid up but change category mid-season (e.g. U18 → Adult, Social → Adult Playing).
Student (3rd Level) members must provide valid proof of student status.
All members must also complete their Hockey Ireland membership (€30) by 30th September. Complete using this link: Membership - Hockey Ireland
New Members
We’re delighted that you’re considering joining our club!
Most sections of Avoca have space, but some categories are full and operate a waiting list. To ensure your request is processed correctly, all new members must apply through the waiting list first.
New members → must apply via the waiting list.
What is the Hockey Ireland €30 membership?
All members must also register separately with Hockey Ireland, which carries an annual fee of €30.
Registration with Hockey Ireland is mandatory for all players.
It provides essential insurance cover and allows members to play in official competitions.
This must be completed by 30th September.

Player Transfer – If you are joining us from another club
If you were a registered member of another hockey club in the last 2 years, Leinster Hockey require a formal transfer before you can play for any Avoca team. This process must be approved by Leinster Hockey.

Renew your Hockey Ireland membership and note your membership number (ME******).
Renew as if you are still with your old club. Do not list Avoca as your club yet.
Complete Section A of the Player Transfer Form (attached in Word format) and include your HI membership number.
Keep the form in Word format only – do not send PDF, Google Doc, scan, or photo.
Return the completed form to Avoca as soon as possible.
Once received:
Avoca will forward the form to your old club for completion of Section B (unless already completed).
Avoca will complete Section C and submit the form to Leinster Hockey for approval.
Important Notes:
Leinster Hockey may take up to 5 days to approve the transfer once the completed form is submitted. The sooner you submit, the faster the approval.
If your HI membership is not renewed or your membership number is incorrect, Leinster will reject the form.
You cannot play for Avoca until Leinster approves the transfer. Playing without approval may result in sanctions and fines for the club.
